Spotting unconsented work

The bottom line

Consented and compliant are different things. A CCC is the proof. A COA is not the same.

Building work either had a consent and was signed off with a Code Compliance Certificate, had a consent but was never signed off, or never had a consent at all. Each case has a different fix, from nothing at all to a Certificate of Acceptance to removing the work.

The two flowcharts in this lesson cover the most common findings, decks and tiled showers, including the 2025 rule change for showers.
