Working with HouseMe Legal

We only act for first home buyers and the people around them. The work runs in three stages, Prepare, Progress and Peak, and the legal tasks are ours to do, not yours. This is how a matter runs from the first call to the keys, and what you should expect from us at each point.

What it is

HouseMe Legal is a fixed-fee conveyancing firm built around first home buyers. Every purchase runs through the same three stages: Prepare, where we review before you offer and set up the file; Progress, where we run due diligence and get you unconditional; and Peak, where we settle and hand you the keys. We work by email, phone and video, and there is no office to visit.

Why it matters

Buying a home is a project with a dozen moving parts and a handful of people who each only see their piece. Our job is to see the whole thing and tell you what comes next before you have to ask. Knowing how the process works makes you a better buyer, and it makes the work with your mortgage adviser and your agent run smoother.

How we handle it

Your first call is free and produces a written summary of where you are and what to do next. From there you get a quote, a client information form, and an onboarding email with the whole journey laid out. Every milestone comes with a next-steps email. If you are not sure whether something is your job or ours, it is probably ours.

Common traps

  • Trying to review the agreement, the title or the LIM yourself to save time. Send them to us.
  • Waiting until you have signed to get a lawyer involved.
  • Not telling us about a change, such as a new job or a gift, until it matters.
